So who is behind this wibble thing?

You really must be bored if you're reading this. But seeing as you're here, here's a little bit about me.

I was born in Cambridge, England on Christmas Day, 1974. My father was doing postgraduate work at Kings at the time. When I was four, we moved to Ireland, as he got a job at Trinity College Dublin. I lived in Ireland - apart from a few months working or studying abroad - until October 2004 when I started working in England.

I was introduced to the Internet back in 1992, while studying Maths at Trinity. The Department had a very generous approach to internet access, though in those days there was none of this funky, useful web thing. The web wasn't around - and internet for us essentially meant email and Usenet access.

After leaving college, I spent a year working for a native Irish ISP called Club Internet. After just over a year, I went to try my vocation at the English College Valladolid, but left after a few months. I was offered a job back at Club Internet, but by that stage they were being bought out by VIA NET.WORKS - it was an interesting time but frequently badly run. VIA made a complete mess of the whole Irish operation, and sold it back to the original management who rebranded it as Netsource where I had the very pleasant experience of setting up the first whole sale based DSL provider in Ireland (yes, we were doing it before even Esat BT did!).

I left Netsource to move to England - more about that later, but the main reason was to be closer to the wonderful woman who was my fiance, and is now my wife. We had our first son on April 14th this year.
